Hi guys, we are back again with our series on design styles. Let us pick up where we left off last time, with these design styles.
Traditional
Best described as deep and layered. Classic details, abundance of accessories and sumptuous furnishings. Dark finished wood, rich color palettes and a variety of textures. Furnishings are elaborate with ornate details and sumptuous fabrics example silks, velvet and brocade.
Transitional
A stylish and sleek, but warm and inviting style. Incorporating elements of modern and traditional but with a sense of balance., example coffee tables in steel and glass, but plush furnishings. A neutral color palette assists in toning down the harshness of the steel and glass, creating a calm and relaxed space.
French country
Similar to a farmhouse interior, the use of warm earthy tones, with worn and ornamental wooden furnishing, completes this look. Color may include soft and warm tones of red, yellow or gold. There are collections of ornate porcelain dishes, heavy linens, drapes and bed coverings.
Bohemian
A style that reflects a carefree spirit. Contains vintage furniture, textiles and rugs, displays of collections. A bit of a mix and match as long as you love it.
Rustic
Nature inspires this style by using raw unfinished elements such as wood and stone. The incorporation of the outdoors, with warmth emulating from the design and architectural details. Wooden floors are a good example.
Shabby Chic
Vintage inspired but more feminine and delicate best describes this style. The color palette comprises of whites, creams and pastels. Lights and decor items may be ornate. Furniture is brass or white worn metal. This style is whimsical.
Hollywood Glam
This style screams opulence, over the top, glitzy and dramatic. It lends from the Victoria design with velvet, tufting, antiques. Retro furniture pieces in rich and bold fabrics. Color palettes are rich and bold, such as Red, Orange Gold, Purples, Teals. Chandeliers are crystal and grand. Coffee tables comprise of gold metal and glass. Artwork, unconventional and sculptures are bold.
Coastal / Hamptons
This style creates relaxation in the use of light airy palettes, comfortable furniture in either white or beige. Additionally, the sea inspires this design style with pieces such as natural fibres, coral, raw wood and shells. Fabrics have nautical designs, with stripes in blues, greens and creams. Rugs are natural, completing the relaxed and comfortable environment inspired by the ocean.
